Who we are

Welcome to Friends of the Camas Washougal Community Center. We were founded in 1985 as a service organization to provide individual sponsorships to children in financial need, for youth sports and other youth activities. Today we also help advance public awareness of the Community Center resources stimulating use of the buildings spaces, services, and programs. The Friends work together with the City of Camas Parks and Recreation and other partners to provide social, educational, recreation and cultural programs. We are forever working to enrich the lives of citizens and foster a sense of positive community in this central gathering place, now the Camas Washougal Community Center.
In addition to youth sponsorships, our projects and fund raising efforts have also allowed us to contribute to needed maintenance and physical improvements to the Camas Community Center located at 1718 S. E. 7th Avenue, in the Oak Park neighborhood of Camas. We are a registered Washington State 501-(c)-3 nonprofit corporation and very much a community driven volunteer organization.

We're growing
Our community is growing dramatically. Our current home is in need of relief as is the Camas Municipal Swimming Pool, and the Washougal Community rooms located in the Washougal Municipal Center. Together with the cities of Camas and Washougal and other community partners, we are campaigning for a new Camas Washougal Community Recreation Center to be built near the cities adjoining boundary. The new center will replace or compliment existing structures and provide facility resources not now available.
